3312       COMMUNITY COLLEGES IN CRISIS: COMMUNICATING ON CRUCIAL BUDGETARY ISSUES

10:15 – 11:30      Sunday, February 19       Sendero II

As the United States economy continues to flounder, publicly funded higher education continues to see deeper and deeper cuts from state legislatures. A highly salient issue for community colleges is that when it comes to cutting higher education budgets, legislators often fail to acknowledge a difference in the “funding formula” of two year and four year colleges. This creates extra pressure for many community college systems that are already strained to the breaking point. This roundtable discussion will be fully interactive, with the audience becoming part of the panel, offering their insights, suggestions, and comments.
