The WSCA Second Vice President, Christina Yoshimura, solicits submissions for the Undergraduate Scholars’ Research Conference (USRC) to be held at the beginning of the Western States Communication Association Convention in Reno, Nevada on February 16, 2013. The USRC is an extraordinary opportunity for undergraduate scholars and researchers to showcase their work and receive feedback from experienced scholars!
Undergraduate students are invited to submit papers reporting original research (i.e., critical investigation, experimentation, or analysis leading to the discovery or creation of new facts, theories or interpretation or significant revisions of already existing ones, or the practical applications of these new or revised conclusions). Papers may reflect any diverse range of philosophical, theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of communication.
Undergraduate students benefit from participating in the research conference by crafting and sharing a professional presentation, meeting other undergraduate scholars from the Western region and across the U.S., learning about each others’ research interests, receiving supportive feedback from scholars in the field and learning about graduate studies in communication. In addition, an awards ceremony commences following the last student presentation. For those students whose papers are accepted, WSCA will pay $15 of the $25 USRC registration.
The USRC is sponsored by the Western States Communication Association, whose annual convention is scheduled February 15-19, 2013 in Reno, Nevada. USRC presenters are encouraged to attend many of the activities during the WSCA convention. For information about WSCA visit http://www.westcomm.org
